  • Program Overview

     

    ECTC members serve in early childhood centers Monday–Thursday and participate in training and professional development on Fridays towards CDA Certification. Members must be available to serve between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday–Friday for 8 month service terms.

    Service at Early Learning Centers( Monday-Thursday) : Support teachers and staff in early childhood classrooms Engage children in learning activities and daily routines Help prepare classroom materials and maintain learning spaces Assist with positive teacher–child interactions

    Member Training & Development (Fridays) : Participate in ECTC program trainings Complete required coursework, documentation and program check-ins

    This schedule allows members to gain hands-on classroom experience while also receiving weekly training and support to strengthen their skills in early childhood education.

  • Criminal History

  • The AmeriCorps application process requires a criminal history check to ensure that community members with whom we work are protected, particularly children, individuals with disabilities, and individuals over 60 years old.
    We will investigate for past sexual offenses and violent crimes, or crimes that would have a direct bearing on your service.
    This background check will entail our search of the National Sex Offenders Registry and an FBI criminal history check, which will require your being fingerprinted prior to enrollment.
    You will not be permitted to serve or work with children, individuals with disabilities, or individuals over 60 years of age, until the history check is complete and you are cleared. The review process is not lengthy, and normally is completed within weeks.
